The mechanism of this clock has two trains: the chiming train and the motion train. The motion train has an anchor escapement, what is known as the
system, suspension spring and pendulum. The chiming train strikes on a bell at the hour and the half-hour. The numbers 301-42 are engraved on the back plate, together with the clockmaker’s die-stamp “Japy Frères – Medaille d’Or”. The clockmaker Jacquier is featured on page 322 of the Dictionnaire des horlogers Français (Ed. Tardy), and the Japy Frères factory on page 326 of the same book.

This table clock is made in gilded bronze and blue porcelain. The machinery is cased in a porcelain column adorned with bronze pieces and crowned by two cupids and a blue porcelain amphora with handles. The white enamel dial has Roman numerals in blue for the hours and Arabic in black for the minutes. The inscription Monbro Fils Ainé can be seen under the figure twelve, and over the six we see the company Jacquier Her (abbreviation for horloger).
