The telescope compass is a low precision measuring instrument used for surveying. It measures perpendiculars and directions thanks to the built-in compass. It consists of a sighting tube which rotates around a graduated scale for measuring azimuth angles. It also has a vertical limb inlaid with an index fixed to the telescope to measure zenith angles. The telescope, with stadimetric grid, can also be used to measure distances.
