Fernando Delapuente

(Santander, 1909- Madrid, 1975)

20th Century Spanish

A painter and drawing artist from Cantabria, Delapuente studied at the School of Fine Arts of Madrid. He combined his training in art with studies in Industrial Engineering, and he worked as a teacher in both disciplines. He was a pupil of Julio Moisés (1888-1968) and of the printmaker Manuel Menéndez. He travelled frequently to Italy, where he lived for five years, to Paris and also to Germany. Those journeys contributed to expand his reach as a painter. In 1960 he settled for good in Madrid.

In 1955 Delapuente exhibited his work at Galerías Layetanas in Barcelona, and in the following years in galleries in Paris, like Benezit and Duma. He also presented his work in Madrid, New York and San Diego.
