Guache trained at the School of Applied Arts in Oviedo and frequented the studio of the painter Manuel Gutiérrez-Navas (1890-1971). However, he would soon leave for Madrid to enrol at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts.

In his early stages his painting was reminiscent of
, evolving from there to a more intimate and simpler style predicated on a purity of forms. He practices a restrained art, which foregrounded a quest for inner peace. He is interested in the application of matter, the use of colour and how to involve the beholder in his projects.
