Eduardo Mazariegos

(Soria, 1952)

Author's artworks
This sculptor and painter from Soria earned a name for himself following many exhibitions in Madrid, Ciudad Real, Seville and Soria here in Spain, as well as internationally in New York, Panama, England and Switzerland.

In 1974 his work was featured in a group show at Palacio de Cristal in Madrid, and two years later he won the Gran Prix for Sculpture at Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The themes for his latest output, presented in his hometown in 2010, are taken from characters and motifs from his family and local environs.

For his small-format works he normally uses wood, especially olive and cypress, and bronze, while in his larger works for public spaces his favourite material is stone. Sometimes he uses wood for the prototype of a work that he later produces in bronze in short editions.
