Century Spanish
Montoya studied Applied Arts in Ciudad Real and in Madrid, as well as in Lugano (Switzerland). In 1975 he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in Madrid. He benefited from several grants from the Fundación de Arte Castellblanc in 1972 and from the Spanish Ministry of Culture which allowed him to travel to other countries.
After his experience abroad, he decided to settle in Segovia where he devoted himself to a creative, thoughtful and personal practice. His first solo exhibition was held in 1973 at Sala Provincia in León.
Montoya represented Spain at the 16
th
Sao Paulo Biennial, 1978, and at the 11
th
Paris Biennial, 1980. He has taken part in countless exhibitions and events both in Spain and abroad.
