Author's artworks

20th-21st Century. Spanish

Born in Spain, at a very early age Nóvoa moved with his family to America where he stayed until 1929, when they returned to Galicia. However, his life would continue to be peripatetic: in 1938 he went back to America, to Uruguay, where he lived until 1947, when he moved to Buenos Aires. He travelled throughout the whole continent until 1965, when he decided to move to Paris. There Nóvoa developed his career as an artist, although he never forgot his origins and spent long periods of time in Armenteira (Pontevedra).

Despite his initial literary vocation and his training as an architect, he finally embraced painting and sculpture. His art production went through various periods: from figuration to expressionism, before ending up in a totally conceptual Informalismo focused on space, light and matter. His work has been seen in various cities in Spain and abroad. He is represented in many contemporary art museums worldwide, as well as in important private collections and art institutions.
