With a degree in Fine Arts from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, in the late 1980s Paloma Peláez moved to Rome to further her studies at the Spanish Academy.

Her first solo exhibition was held in Galería Villalar in Madrid in 1986. Her language is predicated on the use of patterns and ornamentations, to which she adds small images such as little birds or playing cards. The result has the appearance of a series of personal recollections with a somewhat melancholic tone.
