Berao, a renowned jewellery designer and artist from Madrid, views sculpture as a form of inspiration for his creations: earrings, rings and other precious jewellery.

Created in 1972, La Victoria de Samotracia was made at the Magisa workshops in Madrid and exhibited a year later at Sala Conca de la Laguna in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Together with this piece, Berao also created another work in the same series called El bailarín del espacio, with similar stylistic features.

Here the sculptor creates a reinterpretation of the Victory of Samothrace on display at the Louvre in Paris from which he borrowed the inspiration for the silhouette of his jewellery designs. His work gives good account of the close relationship between, on one hand, jewellery and, on the other, sculpture and architecture.
