Guillermo Peyró Roggen
(Valencia, 1953)
En el merendero

acrylic on canvas

Inv. no. 1678

The whole work is covered with lines, planes and colour. With a minimal range of elements Peyró Roggen creates a scene in which he develops an interior monologue through colour, bringing us close to a new form of expressionism.

movement.
In this piece the geometric layout of the balcony is achieved using large patches of colour with indistinct outlines, seeking a visual impact in which aesthetics are paramount. It is clearly influenced by the Abstract Expressionists of the mid-twentieth century.
The absence of narrative does not mean that the work lacks content; on the contrary, it serves as a pretext for constructing the picture. The colour palette and the balance between verticals and horizontals find a dynamic counterpoint in the zigzag of the horizon and the radial pattern of the railing.
