Silva’s practice can be clearly divided into a series of different clear-cut phases: first of all his beginnings in
, which then gave way to a cubist language and afterwards, between 1985 and 1995, he became more engaged with matter-based figuration yet without renouncing his commitment with the everyday.

The works from this last-cited phase are based on an initial central sketch over which he layers a series of humanoid outlines, body parts and transformations of colour and of matter. The narrative of the work is based on mythological iconography.

With regards the colour, it is austere with ranges of cold tones with an overall predominance of greyish tonalities with incisions, elaborations and lines of blue and yellow colours that create a sense of depth and convey movement to the pieces.
