This painting is an excellent example from the painter’s series of still lifes he made in 1986. Charged with a strong expressionist load, the composition shows signs of a singular post-
that brings to mind some works by Francisco Bores (1898-1972) or by Pancho Cossío (1894-1970), though more humanised that these models. Here the geometric rigidity has given way to the depiction of everyday domestic objects like wine glasses, bottles, knives, plates and so on, whose presence suggests something beyond the strict reality of the object depicted, as if it were exploring a dense, matter-based universe in which the elements took on a completely different meaning.

His work is a passionate defence of the practice of painting, from the matter-based figuration of the eighties, to which this painting can be classified, to more recent works in which he uses iconic figures from the history of art as his supports, modifying and reinterpreting them, mixing oil painting and photography and
to achieve the desired visual effect.
